The ridiculous of everything, often.
Who or what inspires you
I never like the idea of wholesale inspiration, it’s about layers, as much a brushmark, a sculptural gesture, a song lyric, a texture on the street, an image, that filters through and becomes a potential.
Your words to live by
Life and how to live it. (R.E.M)
What cause or causes do you feel passionate about
The environment gets me every time, it is so vast, but so delicate, I can never begin to comprehend the enormity of the challenges we face.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given
Life’s a fight, get in the fight.
Your London in an hour
Walking to my studio in Dalston, time to think, always stopping off at L’Atelier for a macchiato, it’s the best in Dalston very un-showy and the staff are all lovely, you can have a chat, you feel local.
Your favourite London view
From my flat, which I share with my partner, it has perfect views of an ever-emerging new King’s Cross; the flat is high up, in the trees, like a tree house.
Are you working on anything at present
I’ve been working between Italy and the UK on my solo exhibition, which is open now and continues until the 7 October at my representing London gallery, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery who run a bold, directional programme of contemporary art, I’m very fortunate.
I’m showing a sequence of new marble and cast sculptures and accompanying colour paintings that I hope evoke sensations of stillness and movement, surrender and resistance, of past and present and future rolled into one moment in time.
Describe your style
Generally smart casual, with a magpie’s eye for attention to detail and quality of fabric and finish. I like to throw in some super smart looks for occasions.
Whose style do you most admire, past or present
Tilda Swinton, hands down, such a recurrent icon, for women, and men.
Favourite piece from the ENLIST collection
The stunning new bomber jacket! So versatile, and perfect for my favourite layering.
