Posted on 05 December 2016
Max Konig and Alice Deen, siblings and children of renowned interior designer Nina Campbell. Max lives in Hampshire with his wife and 2 children. Alice lives in London with her husband and 2 sons. Carrying on the family tradition, Max and Alice both work along side there mother running the Nina Campbell empire, where Max is the Managing Director and Alice is the director of PR & Marketing.
Who or what last made you laugh out loud
Alice: My children’s zest for fancy dress (namely Halloween) and the obscurities of my 4 year olds funny mind.
Max: Definitely my children doing small talk to each other without realising we were listening.
Who or what inspires you
Alice: Most things around me in my everyday life, walking down the street, being at work, London in general and the people I surround myself with.
Max: Olympians and Para-olympians.
Your words to live by
Alice: Find humour in pretty much everything even if you have to dig deep sometimes, see the bright side, nothing is that bad, life is for enjoying, grass isn’t always greener and appreciate what’s around you rather than trying to find something better.
Max: Always try your best and no one can ever question or judge you.
What cause or causes do you feel passionate about
Alice: All dog related causes as well as making sure children in London are fed and housed. It’s astonishing how much extreme poverty there is here in London right under our noses while we live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I think more needs to be done to help those closer to us.
Max: Anything that affects my friends and family.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given
Alice: That on the whole no problem is too difficult to solve.
Max: Don’t go for the cheapest quote as it’ll work out more expensive when it goes wrong.
Your London in an hour
Alice: My children/dog london.. Hyde Park then Science Museum quick lunch at Pizza Express (an oldie but such a goodie!) then Semmalina Starbags toyshop. My other London - Nina Campbell shopping obviously! Bibendum downstairs for speedy lunch, more Christmas shopping at Conran, Cocktails at The Langham Hotel ESSENTIAL (more than an hour probably!)
Max: A walk around Old Chelsea stopping for a refreshing drink in the Pigs Ear on Old Church Street.
Your favourite London view
Alice: Either the Horse statue in the middle of Hyde Park on a really crisp winter/Autumn day when the sky is that amazing blue colour. Or the view at night from Chelsea or Albert Bridge looking down the river with everything lit up. I also love the Michelin Building on Fulham Road.
Max: Coming into land at Heathrow night or day.
Are you working on anything at present
Alice: All things Christmas at Nina Campbell, evolving our current website, and an exciting new book.
Max: Just finished our latest furniture collection which has been inspired by country house pieces that we wanted to modify.
Describe your style
Alice: A little schizophrenic at times depending on whether I am working or protecting myself from the grubby hands of children and paws of my dog! On the whole I like well cut, classic and fairly simple pieces mixed with a fab coat preferably a good colour. Or mixed with some more quirky accessories so not to be too boring.
Max: I like things to be timeless and have a traditional slant to them, but be sharp enough to get away with in the modern world.
Whose style do you most admire, past or present
Alice: The Queen, Parisian girls on the whole do that effortless thing annoyingly well, and I LOVE those fabulous older Palm Beach ladies, Iris Apfl and the Grey Gardens look. I also SO admire anyone that looks totally pristine and together as I definitely struggle with that rather.
Max: Nina Campbell, Mark Birley and Rita Konig (Bias but they are the best).
Favourite piece from the ENLIST collection
Alice: Isabella Sweater and the Maddison Trousers look pretty perfect
Max: Chevron Gilet
