Design Hunter was founded by interiors writer and stylist Helen Powell in 2009. Since then it has become one of the UK's leading interiors, design and lifestyle blogs.  She is originally from Wales, but currently lives in Warwickshire with her husband Graham and their whippet Albert. Design Hunter reflects her love of objects that reference honesty and simplicity in the design and use of materials, and her belief that the objects we choose to live with should help create a home that is inviting, restful and a place of sanctuary.

Who or what last made you laugh out loud
My dog – he does the funniest things and makes me laugh almost every single day.

Who or what inspires you?
Creative friends - people with a can do attitude who are willing to take a risk and commit themselves to pursuing something they are passionate about.

Your words to live by
Be authentic.

What cause or causes do you feel passionate about
Social mobility and access to arts education - I am concerned that it is becoming limited to only those who are fortunate enough to come from affluent backgrounds. We have produced so many amazing creative talents in this country through our wonderful universities and art colleges, but I worry that future generations of young people won’t have access to the same opportunities.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given
Always follow your dreams – you never know where they might lead you.

Are you working on anything at present?
I’ve just completed the styling and photography for the launch of a new folding bicycle designed by my husband Graham www.whippetbicycle.com. It’s been in development for some time, so we’re really excited to have finally launched it.

Describe your style
Mostly monochrome, minimal and understated.

Whose style do you most admire, past or present
Cate Blanchett. She always looks amazing, and I would kill for those cheekbones.

Favourite piece from the ENLIST collection
The gunmetal lamé blouse. I’m usually happiest in black or neutral colours so metallics are perfect for when I feel like something with a little more edge.
